Advice on locating printed articles:
Between 1998 and 2003 the Boothbay Register, our local paper since 1876, placed online many of the news items relating to the historical society, as well as the society's column of historical articles entitled, "Out of Our Past." The column appears monthly, but multiple-part articles appear weekly until the series ends. The photos with extended captions that appear monthly (at intervals between the articles) often were not placed online. A good way to locate historical articles or society news items is to search the Register site for the occurrence of such phrases as "Boothbay Region Historical Society," "Rumsey," "historical," or "Out of Our Past."
The articles no longer appear online, at the request of the author and the approval of the historical society, but still are printed in the newspaper.
Permission to use text or images from the Boothbay Region Historical Society website is required for any purpose beyond personal use. Uses requiring permission: publication, display, advertising, or posting elsewhere on the Internet.
